Construction, agricultural and medical waste management

Absrtact
This project investigates the waste management and relevant measures regarding construction, agriculture and medical sectors. The results are summarized as follows: For construction wastes, from a life cycle point of view, with reference to the circular building policies implemented by the EU and other countries, while considering Taiwan’s national building code and construction resource circular mechanisms, and advices from experts and academics, this project aims to propose practical approaches for our national building code and construction resource circular mechanisms, and to comply with international standards. The types of construction wastes from demolition activities and their disposal routes have been looked at, the issues on construction wastes’ on-site sorting and recycling and reuse status have been explored, and countermeasures proposed. Through site reconnaissance, personnel interviews, the calcium silicate boards and gypsum boards’ recycling and reuse and processing statuses were analyzed, with their respective sales channels and management measures proposed. For agricultural wastes, through on-site surveys and telephone interviews on related practitioners and production sources, complete a review on existing recycling system and propose counter-measures. Targeting districts with difficulties in recycling/selling disposed agricultural mulching films, provide practical guidance in Yuchi Township, Nantou County to establish a recycling mechanism. Promote the recycling and reuse of agricultural waste. Constantly track the situation in recycling of fishery waste, and assist in establishing recycling methods. As mentioned above, complete training materials for agricultural and fishery waste as a reference for future advocation. For medical wastes, two divisions, Gynaecology and Plastic Surgery, have had their control standard thresholds, analysis method and suggestions proposed individually. Completed the correlation analysis between different types of biomedical wastes and production processes. The waste disposal plan’s categories have been simplified for ease of filling out. Completed 3 types of chlorinated plastic medical equipment replacement analysis, with the proposal of reducing pollution sources at medical institutions.
